Student Startup Challenge 2024

Southampton Students Innovate and Compete in Entrepreneurial Student Startup Challenge

The University of Southampton's Student Enterprise team celebrates the success of their recent Student Startup Challenge 2024 at the Student Enterprise Junction, City Centre Campus.

Led by the expert guidance of the Student Enterprise Team, in collaboration with Fish on Toast, the University’s Entrepreneurship and Business Society, this three-day event tasked students to transform innovative ideas into viable business concepts over an immersive weekend. By bringing together like-minded peers, students developed creative solutions to real-world problems, pitched their ideas, and developed them as teams over the weekend.

The Student Enterprise Team guided teams through topics including ideation, business planning, market research, and pitch development. This culminated in teams pitching to a panel of expert judges, competing for the grand prize of £500 and the chance to have their names etched on the prestigious Student Startup Challenge trophy.

The event welcomed back alumni and past participants, who provided valuable insights to this year’s budding entrepreneurs. The increasing student engagement in entrepreneurship programmes like the Student Startup Challenge underscores the growing importance of practical, hands-on business education. By bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world application, the University of Southampton continues the next generation of entrepreneurs.
