UN Sustainable Development Goals

What are the UN SDGs and why do they matter?

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global goals adopted in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They are a blueprint for addressing the world’s most pressing challenges – from poverty and inequality to climate change and global health – in a way that is inclusive, equitable, and sustainable.

The Sustainable Development Goals matter because they provide a shared global framework for addressing the world’s most urgent challenges – from poverty and inequality to climate change and public health. They highlight how interconnected these issues are and encourage action that is inclusive, collaborative, and measurable. By setting clear targets, the SDGs help governments, organisations, and individuals align their efforts to create meaningful, lasting impact. Most importantly, they empower people everywhere – especially younger generations – to be part of building a fairer, more sustainable future for all.
