Ideas for Impact Workshop

Social Impact Lab enjoyed hosting this interactive ideation workshop in partnership with Enactus

On October 28th the Social Impact Lab hosted our first Ideas for Impact workshop – and what an inspiring afternoon it was!

Students from across the University came together to explore the big question: how can we turn our passions for social and environmental change into actionable ideas?

Through interactive exercises and group discussions, participants learned practical tools for ideation – from identifying root causes of issues to framing bold, creative solutions that could make a real difference. Using methods like the “5 Whys” technique and real-world examples linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, students discovered new ways to look at the problems that matter to them most.

The ideas being discussed were inspired, ranging from implementing food waste education through recipe workshops, to embedding financial literacy into education to teach children how to thrive in adulthood. Many attendees left ready to take their next step by entering their idea into the 100 Big Ideas Competition, where 100 students will win £100 for their innovative concepts for social impact.

After the session, students stayed on for refreshments and more engaging conversation, continuing to share ideas and connect with others passionate about driving positive social change. The sense of community and collaboration captured exactly what the Social Impact Lab is all about – empowering the next generation of social changemakers to act on what they care about.

Missed this one? Don’t worry – more workshops and events are coming soon! Follow the Social Impact Lab to stay updated and join the movement to create a fairer, more sustainable world 🌍
