Steve Fleming MBE captivated audiences as he shared the remarkable story of Kick4Life FC – the world’s first dedicated social enterprise football club – from its humble beginnings as a bold idea to its global impact transforming lives in Lesotho.
Speaking at the Radical Football: Changing Lives Through the Power of Sport Founder Talk last Friday, Fleming reflected on the journey he began with his brother: turning a passion for football into a powerful tool for social change. What started as an ambitious and unconventional concept has grown into an internationally recognised organisation that reinvests all profits into programmes tackling youth unemployment, gender inequality, health challenges, and HIV awareness.
Guests gained an honest insight into both the triumphs and the setbacks behind Kick4Life’s success. Fleming spoke candidly about the obstacles he faced, the lessons learned through trial and error, and the motivations that kept him committed to building an organisation rooted in purpose.
Attendees also learned how Kick4Life has become a global leader in Sport for Development, recently earning the prestigious Laureus Sport for Good Award. Through sport, education, and enterprise, the organisation continues to empower young people and create sustainable change in local communities.
A lively Q&A session gave aspiring social entrepreneurs the opportunity to ask Fleming about leadership, innovation, and building mission-driven ventures. Many left inspired by his message that meaningful impact comes from courage, resilience, and a willingness to take risks in pursuit of a greater good.
The event offered a powerful reminder that football can be more than a game – it can be a catalyst for opportunity, empowerment, and lasting social transformation.
