Never alone

It was interesting to discover that on this Good Friday that the leaders of Australia’s main denominational churches had the theme of being alone in the services today.

It got me thinking as I was out with the company of our dog and my own thoughts. I am never truly alone. Even when I am by myself, I always have the presence of God with me. That presence resides in my spirit and was evident during my walk, through the wind in the trees and the flight of a butterfly, which flittered across my path for a time.

But this has only been made possible through the sacrifice that Jesus made. He voluntarily set himself apart and the thought that really blows my mind is that he separated himself FROM himself. He tore himself away from who He is, a part of the Trinity, which had always been together. And he did so through free will, through choice, all for me and all for you.

I can never imagine, will never be able to experience (and I thank God for that), the absolute soul tearing anguish Jesus experienced on the cross, when that separation occured and he cried out “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” (My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? - Matthew 27:46)

We are so blessed to never be alone. We have our families, our friends and our Junction community as well as the wonderful, awesome presence of our Creator, ever in our lives. And we are a blessing to all of these, even as they are a blessing to us.

So my encouragement to all of us this Easter, is to take the time, to make the time, to ensure we don’t get lost in the busyness of our lives. To take a moment to catch up with family, to contact that friend who has slipped out of your life without you realising it and to get together with your mates in the Junction community. Its easy to be busy, its hard to be a community, whether its family, church or friends, but when you make the effort, everyone benefits. We all have, from that very first Good Friday.

Wishing you all a safe, relaxing and Happy Easter.

Michelle
