missional church

“what I'd do differently in a missional community if I could do it again.”

Talk, conversations, statements of intentions, promises; ridiculous and grandiose, if I had my time again I would talk less. I wouldn’t allow myself to feel the pressure to define and decide and declare details and structures that are miles off coming. I wouldn’t blog nor write until I felt I could celebrate and commiserate the real efforts and struggles of a living breathing community.

To Birth and Nurture Multiple Missional Communities

A new year brings new life, new ideas and a chance to start fresh. What will you do different, better or with greater purpose and conviction in 2006?

Who will you spend time with? What will you spend your money on? Don’t let life speed away from you, decide now what kind of year 2006 will be for you.

I am going to take the time, at the beginning of this year, to listen to God and to those around me to help me discern where I will spend my time and where I will put my energy and focus.

The Missional Church

What are the characteristics of the missional church? Reflect on them biblically and comment on the implications for your missional context. (The Junction)

Introduction.

For the last fifteen hundred years the church has been at the centre of society and involved with the state. Today in a postmodern era there is a new emerging church rising from the midst of a irrelevant, dated church. It is grassroots and rough. It is being lead by mainly young people and it crosses denomination and organization.

A summary

• Small groups can be numerically successful, and even multiply, but still not make disciples! Merely being a small group is not enough, though without small groups you cannot experience community. SO what‘s missing?

• Biblical community is the expression of the life of Christ on earth today! Places of effective community have a common purpose, a common place, and common possessions.

• Reality of our society:
